Aliva Tulugak and Raynald Lapierre are honoured by the Conseil québécois de la coopération et de la mutualité

The Conseil québécois de la coopération et de la mutualité (CQCM), founded in 1948, recognizes the contributions of people who have given exceptional services to the cooperative and mutualist movement. On March 16th, during their latest annual gala, the CQCM celebrated and honored all those who have contributed to the socioeconomic development of Québec. This year, two persons from the Fédération des coopératives du Nouveau-Québec (FCNQ) had the honour of receiving the Ordre du Mérite coopératif et mutualiste québécois.

Aliva Tulugak, President of the FCNQ Board of Directors, has been involved in his local cooperative, the Povungnituk Cooperative Association, since the age of 19. Administrator at the FCNQ since 1978, four of those years taking up the role of president, his primary goal is to ensure that the cooperative model can continue to serve its members as well as the whole population of Nunavik. His dedication has contributed significantly to the development of the cooperative movement in Nunavik.

Raynald Lapierre, manager of the Receiving and Shipping Department, has been working at the FCNQ and for the members of the cooperatives of Nunavik for 43 years now. From his very beginnings as the manager of inventory for Inuit sculptures, his expertise quickly became an asset. Over the years, he has become an inspiring source of tenacity, know-how and perseverance; he also has contributed to the development of tools and procedures in order to ensure effective procurement of merchandise to Nunavik.

We extend our congratulations to Aliva Tulugak and Raynald Lapierre!
